This study examines the integration between Islam and culture in the realm of social institutions. The focus of the research is on the sungkeman tradition, commonly practiced by Indonesian society. The sungkeman tradition involves a child bowing their head and offering respect, apologies, prayers, and seeking blessings from parents or elders. The method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data sources were obtained through literature review and observations of the integration of Islam and culture in the sungkeman tradition. The findings indicate that Islam and culture have been integrated into many aspects of societal life, including family institutions. The sungkeman tradition is evidence of this integration, as it is often performed during major Islamic celebrations such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. This tradition has had a significant impact on fostering harmony within family relationships, as it embodies noble values that impart many lessons, particularly regarding a child's devotion to their parents.
